Type 304L is one of the most widely used stainless steel grades. It is non-magnetic in the annealed condition. Type 304L is the low carbon variation of Type 304 and preferred for its welding abilities. It possesses an excellent combination of strength, corrosion resistance and fabricability.
Used extensively across all industries including chemical, pharmaceutical, medical, brewing, textile and architectural.

304 and 304L stainless steel bars (EN 1.4301 / EN 1.4307) are versatile austenitic stainless steel grades known for strong general corrosion resistance and excellent fabricability.
304L is the low-carbon version of 304 and is often preferred for welded components, helping reduce the risk of sensitisation in certain welding conditions. These grades are widely used across general engineering, fabrication, and processing industries because they offer a dependable balance of strength, corrosion resistance and ease of forming.
Overview304 and 304L stainless steel bars are commonly supplied in a range of forms, including stainless steel round bar, square bar and flat bar. This makes them suitable for both machined parts and fabricated assemblies, depending on the finish and tolerances required.
Key benefits
Welding and fabrication304L stainless steel bar is commonly selected for welded assemblies because the lower carbon content helps reduce the risk of intergranular corrosion after welding. Both 304 and 304L are non-magnetic in the annealed condition, although they may become slightly magnetic after cold work. As austenitic stainless steels, they cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but they can be strengthened through cold working.
Typical applications304 / 1.4301 and 304L / 1.4307 stainless steel bars are used extensively in chemical, pharmaceutical and medical environments, as well as brewing, food and beverage, textile and architectural applications. Typical components include brackets, frames, fittings, fasteners, machined parts and fabricated fabrications.
